100 happy days—days 5 & 6

May 20, 2014 By Carrie Lamanna

Yesterday and today were the last maddening days of the semester. It is always like this. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth until the grades are submitted.

Grades.
the bane of my academic life
the reason I will stop teaching
and the moment I will start
learning

100 happy days—day four

May 18, 2014 By Carrie Lamanna

boxes stacked in my office

old
course papers
syllabi
books
articles half-written
a life half-lived

seven years
in ten boxes
not to be opened for
one more year
when
I will begin again.
